Nose Reconstruction in a Patient With Skin Cancer

A
patient
with a large right nasal defect after excision of a skin cancer. Most cancers in this
area are due to sun exposure. |
A
nasal labial flap is constructed. The blue area is excised to allow
the flap to be rotated and seated in place in a single stage. The
flap can also be brought over the intervening tissue, this will result in
a slightly better cosmetic result, but requires a second procedure to cut
the pedicle. |

flap is rotated in place and sewn into position with little tension. |
The
final result over 1 year later shows some fullness of the pedicle due to
contraction during the healing process.. |
