The picture on the left is from a patient with severe
rhinitis
with pale
turbinates
and
nasal mucosa
covered with thick sticky secretions.
Note the polyp in the superior nasal cavity. This exam is
characteristic of allergic rhinitis. Initial treatment is often
antihistamines or nasal sprays which topically administer steroids, cromolyn sodium or antihistamines.
